Oenothera (ee-noe-thee'-ruh)

Evening Primrose

Large open or cup-shaped flowers in white, yellow or pink. Day bloomers are known as Sundrops, night bloomers as Evening Primroses. Ideal in perennial borders or rock gardens. Oenothera is Greek for wine tasting. The roots of some species were supposedly used as relishes with after-dinner wines. Companion Plants: Echinacea, Dianthus, Iris, Helianthemum, Nepteta.
