Physostegia (fy-soh-stee'-ji-ah)

Obedient Plant

Showy spikes of tubular flowers in shades of pink or white rise above the foliage in mid- to late summer. An easy-to-grow favorite for use in gardens, naturalized areas, and as cut flowers. Grows well in any soil. The common name, Obedient Plant, refers to the ability of individual flowers to be twisted on the stem and remain as they are arranged. Companion Plants: Anemone, Aster, Lythrum, Scabiosa.
