Digitalis (dij-i-ta'-lis)

Foxglove

Slender spikes of large, tubular flowers in shades of pink, rose, purple, white and yellow. Attracts butterflies to the garden. Biennial and perennial forms; biennial varieties reseed in the garden. Digitalis means finger of a glove, so named because of the shape of the flower. Also, the heart stimulant, digitalis, comes from this plant. Companion Plants: Dicentra, Astilbe, Alchemilla, Campanula.
