Gypsophila (jip-sof'-i-lah)

Baby's Breath

Abundant tiny flowers in airy sprays are a fantastic filler in the garden as a softening effect for bold colors or large flowers, blooming from summer to early fall. Ideal cut for fresh or dried arrangements. Prefers a well-drained, slightly alkaline soil. The name Gypsophila is derived from the Greek Gypsos (gypsum) and Philos (friendship) and pertains to the plant's preference for gypsum rock. Companion Plants: Centaurea, Dianthus, Echinacea, Echinops, Hemerocallis, Heuchera, Lewisia, Stokesia, Stachys.
